What is Bachata S4?

Bachata S4 is an experimental, open-source PlayStation 4 emulator project for ARM64 Android devices. It adapts the shadPS4 emulator core to modern Android hardware, combining FEX-based x86-64 guest execution with a managed Linux runtime and Vulkan rendering. The source code is developed publicly on GitHub.

Bachata S4 is in early development. Compatibility and performance vary by game, emulator release, phone, Android version, thermal state, and the selected graphics driver.

What is this website?

This website publishes community and test evidence for how well individual PS4 titles run on Bachata S4. Each compatibility entry is anchored to a specific CUSA serial and records the exact emulator release, device, SoC, GPU, Android version, guest backend, and graphics driver used by the tester.

Reports include the furthest status actually observed, test notes, known issues, performance measurements, screenshots, and compressed session logs where available. This evidence is maintained in the separate Bachata-S4-Compatibility repository.

Compatibility statuses

  • Playable — suitable for normal play in the tested configuration, with no major blocker found.
  • Ingame — reaches controllable gameplay, but completion and full stability are not verified.
  • Menus — reaches menus or title screens but not controllable gameplay.
  • Boots — starts and produces meaningful visual or audio output before an early blocker.
  • Nothing — crashes, hangs, or fails to produce useful output in the tested configuration.

Statuses are observational results for the recorded environment only. A result on one device does not guarantee the same result on another.

How reports are collected

Compatibility reports are produced by testers following a documented workflow: selecting an official Bachata S4 release and exact device and driver, launching a legally owned title, capturing screenshots and logs, and recording the furthest status observed. Reports are reviewed before publication. The canonical game discussions live in JICA98/Bachata-S4 issues.

What Bachata S4 does not do

Bachata S4 does not distribute games, firmware, decryption keys, licenses, or copyrighted console content. Users are expected to provide software they legally own, such as their own dumps or open-source homebrew.
